Medicaid Experiments:
An Overview of Potential Waivers in Ohio

Since expanding Medicaid in 2014, the Ohio General Assembly has legislated mandates requiring Governor Kasich to pursue experimental waivers in Medicaid and the insurance Marketplace. These waivers require federal approval and, with the Trump administration, there is more appetite to explore proposals which increase the eligibility requirements, diminish benefit protections, and expand inpatient behavioral health services.
